[h1_heading]Abandoning ISDN for VOIP[/h1_heading]
We recently had the opportunity to overhaul and upgrade a telephone system for one of our customers. A quick peek at what was currently sitting in the comms cupboard revealed a very proud Avaya IP Office 500 system connected to two ISDN lines. What was surprising was that the current system wasn’t more than a year or so old, and that the initial cost for this 2 line system, with it’s 6 Avaya digital phones and various interface cards was around £3000. The big telecoms company had advised them that this was the right solution for them. It wasn’t.
The system met every requirement that the big telecoms company had been given, but as with any successful business, there came a need to expand. This came at a cost. Each new desk-phone needed an expensive ‘endpoint license’ from the big telecoms company. When they wanted to add call recording functionality, extra hardware was required, along with more license costs. There was no doubt that the system could do a great many things, but always at considerable cost, and as more users joined in, the phone bills went up.
Thankfully, they allowed us to show them that there was a better way. We installed VoIPCLOUD.

We took a bold step to abandon the IP Office and move to a SIP/VOIP environment. Using VoIPCLOUD we were able to provide a full 10 desk system, with call recording functionality, personal voicemail inboxes (another hardware upgrade on the Avaya) and unlimited UK wide landline and mobile calls for less then half the price of their original purchase. We provided training to allow them to have full control over their system, and are always available to provide technical support when needed.
If your business is still using expensive ISDN services, old digital systems that imprison you in expensive upgrade paths, or are wanting to take the next step up from the humble standard phone line, please come and talk to us. We’ll show you, in simple terms, why the future of telephone systems lies in VoIP cloud, what that really means for your business’s finances.
